Mothers have been giving their daughters pearls necklaces for centuries. Many old master paintings show even very little girls wearing a pearls necklace. The pearls necklace was seen as a symbol of rare creature created beauty since the pearl is not made by earth elements but by an oyster. A pebble of sand is caught in an oyster and the oyster to cover its agitation creatures the ochre that is layered around the pebble of sand and becomes a pearl. The oyster is a living organism unlike the earth that creates gems and metals.
The pearls necklace is almost romantically compared to a product of a living creature much like a birth. The romanticized interpretations of pearls has added much to their price. Giving their daughters pearls necklaces was a way of passing the ritual of reproduction and its products from mother to daughter. The pearl is seen as a symbol of hope which is what nature intended in allowing its creatures to reproduce and in the oysters case, to glow. |

For some women out there, pearl earrings are the holy grail of jewelry. Not bad for something that starts with a grain of sand inside of an oyster. You know that old saying that you can't improve on nature? In a way the pearl is a perfect example of that. While you do polish the pearl in order to give it the shape and sheen that you want from it, when you are talking about pearl earrings you are talking about nothing more then a all natural pearl with a small backing made of gold, silver, or bronze. In a sense, it's one of the most basic pieces of jewelry that you can find on the market. If you are in the market for pearl earrings as a gift, you don't actually have to spend too much on them, thanks to the fact that there are different grades which offer different prices at the store. |

If you go shopping for pearl earrings you will find an assortment of designs that have some unique shapes to them. There are some drop earring styles that use the natural shape of the smaller stones as accent pieces in between chains of sterling silver. Some of these are designed as clusters of gems using both the classic white and colored types of pearls. The round stone is also used in creating pearl earrings and can be set into a backing of white gold, platinum or silver to enhance the look of the finished piece.
When shopping for pearl earrings made with the colored stones you will find an assortment of post styles available. These have the basic round stone set on a post backing with no additional embellishments added. Some post earrings do include extra accents like the design with black freshwater pearls circled with ribbons of silver that are studded with tiny diamonds. |

Babies tend to get cranky and irritated especially when you take them on a long trip. They tend to get difficult and cry a lot so it can be tiring on your part to keep pacifying them. It’s a wise decision to take along a baby swing with you when you travel. Baby swings are very portable and gives you a load of convenience.
Some swings can be propped up at the back of the car and you instantly have a small cradle that will rock your baby to sleep. These swings usually come with a built in mobile so the baby will be entertained while they are awake.
Once you get to your destination, you can place the swing on any flat surface and adjust the settings so you can recline it into a seat or lay it back like a small flat bed. A baby swing is wonderful to have and you should never be without it when you travel. |

My best friend got married last year and I was asked to be in her wedding. Of course I was honored but it didn't take long for me to realize that I was just being roped into bridal slavery. She was on a tight budget so she wanted the bridesmaids to help do everything. We spent night after night putting together party favors, working on invitations, and giving suggestions about dresses. For eight months everyone's world revolved around this wedding. We were asked to throw a shower, a bachelorette weekend, book hotel rooms for the wedding weekend (even though we all lived in town), get hair and make up done, shop for wedding tiaras and other accessories, as well as pay for manicures and pedicures. She was on a small budget but gave no attention to our budget. The week before the wedding she sent over a 20 page timeline that included a breakdown of where we were to be the entire time, down to cleaning up the reception venue at the end of the night! The wedding itself was a beautiful event but we were all too tired and too worried about our duties to actually enjoy it. |

For most make-up artists, the face is the ultimate canvas. You may have the most expensive make-up and the best colors but unless you have the right tools and skills all of these are useless. Just like painting you will have to practice the right strokes in applying make-up until you get the desired look that you like. In this regard you must have right make-up brushes in order to execute your skills.
When you see the arsenal of these make-up artists, you can get overwhelmed by the number of tools that they use. Each tool has a specific use and purpose. For beginners like you, a make-up artist says you can just buy the most basic brushes and tools like the lip brush, eye shadow applicator, the brush used to apply blush-on, eyelash curlers, Q-tips and a mascara wand. With these items you can already apply make-up like an expert by using make up tips you can lift from the internet. |

For the last few months, my friend has worn this pink bracelet everywhere she goes. I couldn't help but ask her after a while what it signifies. She told me it's her promise to herself to keep with the diet she's on. When she sees something fattening she wants to eat, the bracelet reminds her to resist and keep going on her diet. She says that while she's wearing the bracelet she can only eat healthy and nurishing food. So far it's worked, so you have to wonder - perhaps this is a great way to symbolise something you are trying to achieve.
I joked with her though - hey, the bracelet will start to become too big if you get successful with your diet! And she looked back at me, with a small smile and said "yes, this is why I chose this bracelet - it fit me very well, but when it starts to slide around my arm, I'll know the diet succeeded." |

It amazes me how sheep-like people are when it comes to bargains - they all head down to the high street on Boxing Day and fight each other over the scraps. For me, I like to shop out of season. For example, I find that lingerie is on sale pretty much throughout the colder months, so that's when I buy it. I bought myself some Shirley of Hollywood lingerie at a real bargain just because of the season I bought it in.
Similarly, you should buy autumn and winter clothing in the summer months - sellers of such clothes are desperate to shift unsold stock then, and they're happy to give you great bargains. It's not like your clothes are going to lose quality while they're stowed away for the months you don't use them. It's just a case of being patient and realising that a lot of what you buy, you won't use for a few months at least. |

I'm heading off to the Boxing Day sales today. I've been working in my company - getting paid twice the going rate, and now I'm going bargain hunting. I'm particularly looking for a pair of ladies court shoes for a party I'm going to. I reckon I can get 50 - 60% off if I look long enough. The snow stopped a lot of shoppers prior to Christmas, now the shops are hurting - so we're surely going to see massive discounts now.
I tend to give presents out to my friends and family over the holiday period, not specifically on Christmas Day - well, I'll be honest, I buy them presents from all the sales after Christmas! They understand, and some of my friends do the same too. Why not? We're not living in great financial times at the moment, so it's just a pragmatic move on the part of people who don't have a lot of money! |
