Inspecting a House from Top to Bottom is a Must Before Moving In

posted on 16 February 2012

When Shelly moved into her new house she did not really check it out thoroughly. I mean all Shelly looked at was what her eyes can see and did not delve deeper into the actual workings of the house. She did not bother to check if the plumbing was okay or if the all the fluorescent bulbs were new. A few days after she moved in she realized that there was a spark with one of the light bulbs in the kitchen and called Calleigh screaming for help. Calleigh is probably the only person she has on speed dial and after listening to her whine Calleigh offered to have a domestic electrician come over to her place and check it out. Shelly then pleaded with her to be there in case there are questions she would not know how to answer or just to make sure she does not get overcharged or something like that. Sometimes when I hear Shelly whine I am reminded of a 12 year old brat who knows nothing of the real world.

Tips that can help create the perfect bathroom design for you

posted on 7 May 2011

The bathroom is sometimes considered as the most solemn place in your home. That is why it is important to make it a more pleasant place for your own comfort. Here are some tips that can help you plan the perfect bathroom design without breaking the bank. One is that you must consider the bathroom as a part of your entire master suite and bedroom floor. The relationship of master bedroom, dressing area and bathroom from the hallway should be the foremost planning principle. Hire an architect or other design professional to help you. Another is that you can design a specific space for each of the most essential functions. For washing, design a contained area or a wall against which a sculptural pedestal sink can be displayed. The same holds true for the tub, shower and toilet area. Decide if you really need a separate tub and shower or if a combined/shower tub, or even just a shower, will serve your purposes. Also decide if the toilet needs its own room or whether it can be part of the open bathroom. Don't line the fixtures against the wall. Instead, organize different functional areas around a central space and give this space a room like feel. Decide on the minimal space you need to move around in, and try not to let that grow. On the facing page are two plans where each function is in its own space, with each organized around a central square. Carefully select fixtures and materials that suit your taste and may blend in with your home. But don't make the bathroom the most furnished room in the home. Although it is a place where you spend a lot of time, you entertain there only infrequently. Hire a remodeler that is sympathetic to your tastes and to your bathroom design.

These tiles are made in a myriad of shades that can give your kitchen a lively uplift of color. These tiles are spill proof and water resistant. Wiping with a damp mop or soft cloth can instantly restore the beautiful luster of these tiles. Unless you installed ceramic tiles with a textured surface, they are not slip proof! What makes them ideal for kitchen flooring is that it’s so easy to maintain that you just need to be diligent in keeping your floors dry to avoid accidental slips. Installing kitchen floor ceramic tile may be a bit difficult unless you have the proper tools and skills. The grout applied in between the tiles tends to accumulate dirt and molds that make it look discolored.

You probably have reached a point wherein no matter how you fix up your linen closet it still looks like mayhem and over flowing with so much linen. Fold your linen as neatly and compact as possible so that it won’t eat up too much shelf space. When stacking towels make sure the folded edges are placed on the shelf facing outwards. That way when you pull the towel it won’t drag along the rest of the pile. Put bed sheets inside a matching pillowcase to keep the whole set together. The Green and Blue of Hot Summer Days

posted on 27 December 2010

Every season has its own beauty and social impacts. First off, we must enjoy the warm weather. I lie under my pop up gazebo and enjoy the summer breeze and the cool shade - I spend more time there than indoors! Though in summer, we have to sometimes face the hard sunlight, still we see many enjoyable natural impacts like grazing animals searching for grass (I live out in the country), animals resting under trees, white clouds across the sky, the lush green fields against the azure blue sky, evening rain and many more. Taking cold bath during day time is a nice experience. Sweating during this season gives a pleasant and healthy skin. On a summer evening, it is quite enjoyable to pass the time in a garden, sitting nearby rivers and ponds, walking besides sea, which gives a fresh air and a heavenly feeling. One of the best features during the summer is the morning sunrise too - so enjoy your summer when it comes round next time!

My Own 2011 Bathroom Makeover

posted on 27 December 2010

I live in a condo that has all of its original bathroom fixtures: counter top, tub, and doors. I want to renovate my bathroom and change it, completely. Working from the shower out, I want to replace the bathroom window. Currently, there is an original jalousie aluminum window with the old crank operators with a broken operator and window screens that are corroding. I want to remove it, and put in a new, modern type louver window. Specifically, I want to install a Breezway ios louver window with 6” glass. We want to remove the tub, and install a shower pan, and have a walk in shower with brushed nickel shower head and fixtures. As for the enclosure, 3/8” clear glass with a 28” shower door, brushed nickel finish wall mount hinges, clamps, and 8” C-pull handle. We also want to remove the 4” tile, and tile the wall with either 12” or 18” stone, installed diagonally with an accent piece at about 48” high. We also will remove the black-edged mirror and replace it with a 1” bevel vanity mirror. The old hallow core doors will be replaced along with the flooring will replaced with a linolium wood looking tile. After that, I'm hoping to install one of those modern cctv systems to help protect my house.
