Matchbox Cars Were A Joy To Play With Indoors And Outdoors

My favorite childhood toys were my Matchbox toy cars, a typical example of the traditional toys we had when I was a kid. They came in all different kinds, from street cars to race cars. Sometimes they were tied into famous cars, such as the General Lee from “Dukes of Hazard” or Kitt from “Knight Rider.” My parents also bought me cases for me to store them in. The cases would hold 36 cars, and each car had its own slot. I loved playing with the Matchbox cars outside near the curb, as we lived on a dead end street and there was no traffic. We would build ramps for the cars and shoot them off, and we loved pretending they were in fiery accidents. And of course it is always fun to make car racing noises. I have no idea where all my Matchbox cars are today, but I definitely have fond memories of them. And every time I’m in a toy store, I love to look at the latest ones.
